Scholarships: Time Now To Start Preparing Your Application

Gaynor Davies, Librarian of London’s Institute of Cancer Research, has joined the ICML Scholarship Committee as the UK representative. She will put together a small team of volunteers to advise and assist with the complicated task of arranging tickets, visas, housing for those awarded scholarships, etc.

The support programme for grantees will include an orientation session, which may take the form of a working breakfast on the morning before the conference gets under way.

Lenny Rhine, chair of the Scholarship Committee is keen to encourage prospective applicants to start their preparations now. Having a paper or poster presentation accepted for ICML will be an important consideration when the committee is considering its decisions, and if you are proposing to attend you should be planning your abstract now. The submission form can be accessed via the ICML home page, and although the deadline not until August 99 the months are flying by. . .
