The EAHIL Conference

In the city of Santander in the wonderful coast of Cantábria north of Spain was lauched in the afternoon from 22 September the 9th Conference of Medical and Health Libraries of Europe and promoted by European Association of Health Information and Libraries (EAHILL). The EAHIL records indicated almost 800 participants, representing more than 20 countries including those of the East Europe, as Russia, Rumania, Czech Republic and Poland.
The key address was done by Fernando Rodrigues Alonso, ex-director of BIREME/PAHO/WHO. He spoke on the old and new challenges in the management of the information. Also focused on the professional development required, the need to remain up-to-date and improved knowledge to work with the available technology, without, however to abandon the activities of the thinking, that always should come in the first place.
Promotional booth of the ICML9 aroused sufficient interest and receptivity on participants, as well as of the speakers. The distribution of materials and the questions on the sessions of contributed papers and poster had attracted most of the participants. See ECHO EAHIL n. 4. PDF file annex.
In the Closing Remarks session on 25 September, the official invitation was done by Elenice de Castro, Coordinator of the Executive Secretariat, on the occasion representing Abel L. Packer, Coordinator of the Organizing Committee of the ICML9 and Director of the BIREME/PAHO/WHO.
