P11 - Leisref: application for setting up legislation collections
Presenting the development of Leisref tool - a Legislation Reference Data Administration Program, an application designed to facilitate the work of bibliographical description and indexing, assisting the documentalist in the process of creating standardized bibliographical records for Legislation. The program’s major goals are: to enable feeding the legislation bibliographical databases in a decentralized manner, to allow for database maintenance and to ensure data quality control both at entering the data and exporting them to the LEYES database. Schematic tool was used to develop the application. This tool uses Extensible Markup Language (XML) for the development, presentation, and storage of data. This application was first developed for LEYES database Cooperating Centers, but its current version (1.2) can be used to manage any type of legislation and is not restricted to the health sector. Based on the requirements presented by legislative consolidation, relationships among normative rulings, such as amendments, revocation, regulation, re-publication and other related acts are recorded as hypertext, allowing navigation among the indexed acts. & nbsp;Upon recording the electronic address of the normative ruling full text on the corresponding register, users have access to this text, in addition to the reference data. Based on studies and legal consultant advice (lawyers and documentalists) fields adequate to legislation type material were created to provide for the peculiarities of this type of text as compared to other type of information. The Methodology was oriented to the use of controlled tables (or lists) that help standardizing and save time upon data entering. With the conclusion of Leisref development in December 2004, we have an efficient tool to feed the LEYES database and an alternative for setting up legislation databases. Upon making this application available, LEYES network is strengthened and provides a more effective contribution to disseminate health legislation of the Region and in VHL.
