The advance of global science, specially in the heath area, besides the dissemination of various bibliography productions in every social and economic areas, concerning several supports, make it necessary that the professional be able to know what information is relevant and how to find them to keep him or her well informed. Under this perspective, this research has as its objective to identify the information sources, professionals from the Family and Health Programs- FHPs in the city of Rondonópolis, in the state of  Mato Grosso, are using to in the upgrade their knowledge. Suggesting also, which the best alternatives are, to acquire knowledge that may contribute to a better quality of life for the pacients. It approches the importance of the information sources in the professional life, with the function, objectives and origins of the first FHPs in Brazil, in Mato Grosso state and in the city of Rondonópolis, the local of the research. Doctors, nurses, technicians and/or nursering assistants, as well as the community agents from the 26 units from this Preventive Health Program, have been consulted through questionaires. All of it with the objective to consider the help of bibliothecary professionals in the health area, as the principal element  to manage, control and dissemination of information in this public health area.
