P68 - Informatics Medicals: evolution of brazilian scientific production in PUBMED on the period from 1966 to 2004

The objective of the present study is evaluating the computer medical science in Brazil by analysis of 305 scientific articles in the computer medical science area published by Brazilian affiliation. The PUBMED of the National Library of Medicine on the period from 1966 to 2004 was the reference source in this work. The used articles was obtained through  the describer Medical Informatics using controlled vocabulary (MeSH). These articles were analyzed according the first and the last authors; publication year; publication magazine; affiliation of the authors and publication type.
The results show an evolution tendency of number of published articles: 1 in 1988; 40 in 2002; 56 in 2003 and 70 in 2004. There are only 5 first authors with more than 2 articles published in this period and for last authors, there are 5 with more than 2 published articles. Authors affiliated in university had published the majority of analyzed articles. The Southeastern is the region, which has the biggest scientific produc tion in of Brazil concerned with computer medical science.
