P95 - Health Video National Show – voices encounter and practices in communication and health

Participantes:
This survey is the result of an analysis of 541 videos screened at the four Health Video National Shows organized since 1992. The Shows constitute the main strategy of VideoSaúde-Distribuidora da Fiocruz to identify and include the videos in its collection, making Brazilian audiovisual production on health and related themes available to a larger audience. The objective of VideoSaúde – Distribuidora da Fiocruz, backbone of health video dissemination, is to cooperate to enlarge the access to information and to decentralize production in this country of continental dimensions and different social and epidemiological realities. Nowadays there are over 3,000 titles, available for about 4,000 registered users: professionals of health, education, non-governmental organizations and community leaders who deal with health and request around 8,000 copies/year.
Carried out as final monograph for the Specialization Course on Communication and Health (DCS/CICT/FIOCRUZ), the survey has  taken into account differ ent social, political, economic and sanitary situations, as well as the segments involved in production, themes, shape and genres. We also identify the multiple voices focused on health; specially after the Unified Health System was set up and public policy were presented aiming to promote health and to improve life quality of the Brazilians. It was found that video culture has captivated health professionals, putting them closer to communication professionals, because of the fast, objective and relatively cheap production and because it allows to join collective work and freedom of creation. Communication field widens and diversify its presence in society, bringing in dynamism to the chances of access, publicity and diffusion of scientific knowledge and information, although the democratization of the traditional media still remains a challenge.
