P89 - Camp for all connection: a community health information outreach project

Participantes:
The Camp For All Connection project is an academic/community partnership designed to facilitate access to electronic health information at the Camp For All camp facility.  Camp For All provides barrier-free camp experiences for children and adults with chronic illnesses and disabilities.  The camp is located on 206 acres in a rural setting.  Funds from the project have been used to place Internet-connected workstations at the camp facility for use by health care providers and Camp For All staff members so that they can make better informed health care decisions for their campers.  Training regarding use of electronic health information resources has also been provided using a train-the-trainer model.  Senior camp staff members were trained by a health sciences librarian to serve as resource persons for health care providers and other Camp For All staff members.  To evaluate the project, a series of focus groups and structured interviews have been conducted.  Feedback indicates that the project workstat ions are being used for telecommunications purposes as well as for health reference.  Feedback also indicated the need to add additional computers outside of the camp’s Health Center area.
