The experience of PWR-BRA's Health Systems and Services Technical Unit using Internet for technical cooperation

This paper presents how Internet was used as a tool for technical cooperation within the Technical Unit of Development of Health Systems and Services (TUDHSS) of the Representation of the Pan American Health Organization in Brazil (PAHO/PWR-BRA). This initiative started on 2000 based upon the main purpose of enabling public health knowledge creation in Brazil by organizing and updating information for communities that act collectively and individually to improve health conditions. In this context, it will be presented: a) organizational stages, content perfecting techniques and tools that the TUDHSS`s website has; and b) the weekly electronic bulletin and the SUS library as dissemination strategies to give visibility t o actions taken toward developing universal and equitable health systems and to promote the experience exchange, in Brazil and other countries of Latin America. Also, it will be shown proposals for working closer to BIREME, in order to: a) make access easier to documents relevant for Brazilian health systems and other systems; b) reflect national priorities and those of the technical cooperation; and c) make more effective the use of knowledge obtained from the information disseminated by TUDHSS.
