To promote the rational and safety use of medicines is necessary to amplify the access and to work on the generation on reliable and precisely information. In this context, the package inserts are an important way to spread out this information.

With this focus, this paper will present the elaboration, planning, execution, follow-up and termination phases of the project “Sistema de Gerenciamento Eletrônico de Bulas” (“Package Insert Electronic Management System”), which results from the partnership between ANVISA and BIREME/PAHO/WHO. This project comprised the mapping of elaboration, submission, validation and publication processes of pac kage inserts marketed in Brazil, and the analysis, criticism, and improvement of these processes, within an information and knowledge management model involving its respective role-players and stakeholders of this chain of values.

Within this presentation, the objective of the paper is to reveal the lessons learned with this project and to analyze the impacts of Brazilian, Latin American and Caribbean e-Gov initiatives, based on its team’s experiences.
