Improving access on health information as a strategy for the development of science, technology and innovation on the brazilian Unified Health System (SUS)

The Ceara's Public Health System (SUS/CE) is currently focusing on the development of science, technology and innovation in the health field as a strategy to improve  the  knowledge management including production, application and dissemination. Actions such as the institutional organization and  the investment on researches targeting the prior health problems are being taken, as well as the professional qualification for making decisions based on up-to-date, relevant information applicable on the health attention practice.
With the support from the National Ministry of Health (MS), in partnership with BIREME/PAHO/WHO, the Virtual Health Library (BVS) was introduced at the State Secretariat for Health (SESA) as a strategic tool for an easy access on health information. Workshops were designed to promote the access to the BVS. The participating groups are formed with health counselors, health professionals, hospital managers, students and professionals from other areas. The results will be presented enlightening their role on the improvement of the health system by the democratization of health information access acknowledged as a public property and a constitutional right.
