An educational tool for the formation of health workers: the meeting of the knowledge with the art of doing

The research in development is aimed to the formation of the workers for the Public Health System, at the Joaquim Venâncio Polytechnical School of Health, by investments on production of technology and the creation of models for professional education, incorporating new concepts in the fields of promotion and surveillance towards the constructions of a & quot;welfare society & quot; (see; Teixeira, 2001, p. 96)* and also by the comprehension of the importance to have an educational approach compatible to the social changes.

It aims to develop and analyse the use of educational tools, a hypermedia system for the education and learning process, in a way to allow the perceptions of how the technologies of educational use to be improved in a desirable manner inside the school environment.

The implementation of this system takes place at the Educational Technologies Laboratory (of the polytechnical school), where the building of educational stuff, dealing with the concept of policies and practices in the field of public health, environment and development is made possible.  Amongst all, its main goal is the construction of an educational technology (as referred by Pedro Demo), with interfaces to areas of environment and health, information and communication, facing the dimensions of the public health actions complexity  towards collectivity and its consequences in the formations of workers.

The professional qualification for medium level workers requires a news look upon the public health concepts, the utilization of technologies in education, which makes the form of organization of the knowledge more flexible and enables intersectorial practices of works, important for the health system (by mobilizing thinking and identification of the power instances).  It is in this vision that this research is based, where the information and thinking on these presuppositions are able to have varied forms of perceptions: oral, audiovisual, symbolical, textual, numerical which can be put available by certain education technologies for the education.  Are These tools able to add value to the development of the worker (young or adult), especially in the way of teaching and learning, having as consequence the thinking of the practice and constitution of new knowledge?

Finally, it is believed that the formation of workers associated to the use of this technology is empowered by giving the student the ability to have a critical thinking, making use of previous experiences, to work in an interactive manner and to analyse the reality inside its context.
