P129 - Implementation of UFBA`s Theses and Dissertations Digital Library: health information

Once the information technology has developed, new ways of communicating and publishing information access have caused huge changes in all fields of knowledge and new demands have been presented. Digital library looks for following this process disposing on line database with bibliographic data and/or complete texts from books and papers or scientific production of Teaching and Research Institutions. In this context the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations at UFBA fills a blank in the publishing of its scientific production, regarding the Health Field first. The aim of this work is to list the graduate courses in order to dispose their publications in the database of IBICT; to verify the relation between the theses/dissertations and the fields/lines of research, plus the description of the whole establishment process of BDTD at UFBA. In order to do that, the methodology used was a quantitative and qualitative data approach. Besides, a program of qualification of the librarians who work at teaching unit s, which keep the Graduate Program at UFBA was established. On its first stage, the training program of the librarians was put in first place; on its second stage, it started the publishing of theses and dissertations in the Health Field using TEDE software, developed by IBICT. The results corroborate the growth in the use of electronic media in the scientific production plus resistance factors which make it difficult to publish the academic production. In spite of the difficulties the results were positive, which turned out the publishing of a significant number of theses and dissertations in the database in a short period of time.
